September Newsletter Welcome Welcome back to all our children who have spent the summer away from Little Bears. We have been busy through the summer months with questionnaires, parents as partner’s information and saying our goodbyes to our school leavers. Questionnaires Thank you to all the parents that have completed our annual questionnaire, we are very pleased with the positive feedback. We have taken on board from the questionnaires that you would like to have your child’s learning journals sent home to share with all your family members, your child’s learning journal will be now be sent home at the end of each month for you to share and comment in. To keep communication going please inform us if you are not receiving your journal once a month. If you have not received a copy of our 2011 questionnaire please see Janet or Silvana. Calendar of Events & Stay & Play sessions Have you received your copy of all the events that will be taking place during the next few months? We have looked at our parents as partnership policy in a lot more in depth. We have built in a lot more open sessions such as ‘stay and play’ sessions, ‘joining in with music sessions’ as well as making a ‘diva lamp’ for Diwlai. If you have something you would like to share with the children please let us know. You will find copies of the dates on display in the main reception area. If you would like a copy please ask. Do you have an interesting job or hobby? Would you like to come in and share it with our pre school children, if so please see Lindsey o Sharon. We have been toddling again this year for Dr Barnardo’s charity on Monday 26th September, thank you to all the parents and children who came with us on the day as well as all the people who sponsored the children to walk. Slippers, Coats and Lost Property It is our policy at Little Bears that our children change out of their outdoor shoes when entering the Nursery. Please ensure that your child has a pair of named slippers that they can easily take on and off during their day. We seem to have a lot of coats and jackets hanging in the main reception area. Can you check if they belong to your child? As we are heading for the autumn please make sure that your child has an outdoor coat in the nursery at all times as well as a pair of wellington boots. Breakfast Times Breakfast finishes to 8 o’clock for all children over the age of 1 year. To ensure we keep our child/staff ratios tight we need to have breakfast finished on time. Head lice We have had a reported case of head lice during the last few weeks; please check your child’s hair on a regular basis. Music Go Round As from the 8th of September our popular Music Go Round sessions have moved to a Thursday morning session. We will also have a new teacher to start of the new classes in September her name is Clare Adams. Clare is an excellent musician; she regularly performs in orchestras with her bassoon and has a really nice engaging voice and manner with the children. Clare has CRB clearance. There are plenty of open music go round sessions booked in through the year. (Dates on the stay and play list) Welcome A big welcome to all our new babies, children and parents who joined us during the summer months. New member of staff A warm welcome to Alanah who joined us earlier in the summer, Alanah will support all the rooms where and when needed. She is working towards her level 2 in childcare and education. Changes to our meal supplier As from Monday 31st we will be using a new supplier to cook and deliver our hot lunches. The new menu will be on display nearer the time, feedback on a regular basis would be appreciated once the new menus are up and running. Free Entitlement Sessions If your child is in receipt of funding it is important that all parental declarations are returned at the start of every term. If you have not completed one for the autumn term then please see Janet. Website Hopefully everyone has visited our new website at www.little-bears.org.uk. We are in discussion with the web designers to see if we can add our parents medicine forms on so you can download and complete them at home before coming into nursery. Hopefully this will make it easier for parents who need to get to work. I will keep you posted on that one. Donations Many thanks to all our parents who kindly donate items to us throughout the year we really do appreciate everything. If you are having a clear out of toys, puzzles, books and baby items they are always needed. Open Door Just a reminder - we have an open office door if you need to discuss anything about your child’s day, we are always here. Christmas Closure Dates The nursery will be closing at 6pm on Thursday 22nd of December and re open on Wednesday 4th of January 2012 at 7.30am.
